Jessica's Surprise Sweet 16

I made this buttercream ruffle cake for Jessica.  She's a sweet friend & one of our students from church.  The outside was decorated in white to teal buttercream ruffles while the inside was white to pink french vanilla cake.

I also made some Mocha Hazelnut cupcakes for this wonderful party.  The royal icing lace pieces I added to the top of each cupcake match the royal icing lace flower I made to top the ruffle cake.

Jessica's mom planned & decorated for the whole party.  Isn't this setup just too cute?  Happy Birthday Jessica!

A Wedding Cake for Stephanie & Nick

This was the most unique wedding cake that I have ever made.  The bride's theme was love birds.  She asked for a flowering tree to cover her wedding cake with her sweet love bird topper on top.  Each tier is covered with vanilla buttercream.  The tree is made with chocolate buttercream while the flowers are made of royal icing. Congratulations Stephanie & Nick!

Chloe's Birthdays - 1 & 2

I made this cake for my sweet daughter, Chloe, on her first birthday.  We made so many special memories on that day.  She turned one in December 2010. And in December 2011.......

I made these little Minnie Mouse cupcakes for her 2nd birthday.  I didn't make any cakes in between these two birthday cakes because I was pregnant with my sweet little boy, Noah, who was born in December 2011.  Chloe was thrilled with cupcakes that had Minnie bows.  That's a success in my book.

Here is a picture if my sweet Chloe.

Happy 1st Birthday, Logan!

I made these birthday cakes for some sweet friends of ours.  Their son turned one in September 2010. Both cakes were frosted in chocolate buttercream - iced smooth.  On the 'one' cake, I added Logan's name in fondant letters. It was such a fun birthday cake to make and a fun birthday party to attend.

The Gift that Tastes Delicious

I don't know about you, but I love fondant bows on top of cakes. I think they are the perfect finishing touch.  Both of these cakes are similar. They are both square, offset tiers with a fondant bow on top. The cake above was made for a mother-daughter banquet held by our church.  The cake below was a graduation cake for another of our students.  Polka dots and paisley make this cake fun and unique. Both are iced with buttercream frosting and have fondant accents.

18th Birthday Cake Love

My husband is a youth pastor (insert youth pastor jokes here). But we honestly LOVE our students.  As they enter the youth group, we learn who they are and find more young friends than we ever could have imagined.  What a blessing to be surrounded by these young people who constantly keep us young.  I made this cake for one of our students who was turning 18.  She loves pink and frilliness (is that a word?) and bows.  This cake was definitely fun!

Here is the sweet birthday girl with her cake.  Did I mention, the cake was a total surprise?  I think she liked it.

I had to snap a shot of the inside as well. This cake was alternating layers of strawberry & chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream iced smooth.  And, of course, pink and frilly buttercream decor on top.

Friends Make You Merry

My husband and I made a big move in December 2007. This Christmas cake was created in December 2008 and was the first cake I decorated for friends in our new location. It was for a Christmas party, obviously.  The snowflakes and other decorations along with the letters are made of royal icing.  The cake was chocolate with chocolate buttercream - iced smooth.  This was such a fun cake to make. And I love the bright red platter that I found to display the cake on. So festive!

A Couple of Weddings

This is a wedding cake I made for my high school guidance counselor, believe it or not. She is such a sweet lady. I was so happy to see her marry the man she loves.  Her cake was simple - with smooth buttercream frosting and thin periwinkle ribbon around each tier, topped with fresh flowers.

Another wedding cake for another sweet friend.  My friend's bride-to-be loved orchids and wanted them incorporated in her simple, elegant polka dot wedding cake.  It's difficult to tell with my novice photography, but there is also thick, sheer ribbon around each tier.

Two lovely cakes for two lovely friends that I have been blessed to know.

My First Wedding Cake

The very first wedding cake that I ever decorated was for my brother and his sweet wife. I post this picture now, years later, to encourage other cake decorators. Everyone starts somewhere. And honestly this cake was huge (it may not seem huge from the picture, but it was). It served 400 people. I baked and baked and frosted and baked for weeks before his big day.  It was a lot of work, but I was so honored that they trusted me with this big part of their big day. I will always remember their faith and belief in me. I was blessed by their generosity and continue to be blessed by their love and support.
